A level 2 or 3 could never afford a Tesla. A 1 would barely be able to afford a bus pass.

No oil; apart from all the petrochemicals used to make the car, or to transport the car, or to make electricity.

If I ever got a Tesla, the vanity plate would read “PANLGAP”

I got stuck behind a Tesla going 40 in a 60 mph zone. No vanity plate.

I think these are so common because they were all available.
Who would have selected LOLGAS NOGAS NOPUMP LOLPUMP AMPED, or any other reference to electricity on a car before the Tesla was mass produced?

Someone with an electric RAV-4.
I saw one at a Georgia Costco back in like 2012, I’ve got a picture of it but it’s on my computer at home. Sadly it didn’t steal a vanity plate from a Tesla.

I’d at least be more creative and subtle with my Tesla vanity plate than most – I’d get “COIL”!

1. Buy Model S
2. Put on fake exhaust pipes
3. Get vanity plate “LS SWAP”.
4. Watch confused looks.

LOL GAS is actually on a first-gen Volt around the corner from me. Fairly sure they’ve used the range-extender before, or it cycles itself on to keep it from seizing.
